Reviews

Who is this for?
"Recruiting' is a sort of generic phrase that means different things to different people and is practiced at different levels. It would have been nice to have clarified the target audience instead of just "recruiters".

Corporate HR people with no background at recruiting may find this of benefit. The emphasis is on continuous flow of ad/referral effort to yield results.

Serious executive search/recruiters/headhunters, however, will find it so be so basic as to be pointless. The comprehensive hardbound book Search and Placement! A Handbook for Success by Larry Nobles and Steven Finkel is the foundational book for that industry. Experienced people will be better served by Steven Finkel's brilliant and well-written 2008 edition (get this totally revised edition, not an older one) Breakthrough! Exploding the Production of Experienced Recruiters.

For real "third party search recruiters", this book just isn't right. See above suggestions for much better choices.

Waste of time and money
Completely disappointed. Don't waste your money. If Corporate HR Departments are reading this it would explain their approach to hiring.

4-7 catagories for recruiting success
This book has useful information, though it does seem like someone experienced in recruiting would find it basic. I was a little disappointed that there aren't really 101 strategies as the title suggests. Right away, "strategy 1: what is a recruiter?" made me critical of the title.
Though the book makes good points, probably only about 30 of the strategies would be considered such. The rest are commentary and information. The author stresses being creative and "thinking out of the box" in numerous 'strategies.'

The book is a good source to learn the basics of recruiting, or to give someone ideas on how to improve their recruiting department, but I agree that the title is misleading.

101 Strategies for Recruiting Success
It's an extremely scary thought but many Human Resource professionals aren't even trained in HR. They are simply people whose jobs have been downsized and the company had no where else to put them. How can these people possibly find the right people for the right job?

101 Strategies for Recruiting Success is a one of a kind resource that provides a solution for recruiting woos. The book is packed full of very specific ways to find qualified potential employees and how to match these individuals to their dream job. These strategies are presented in a very intuitive fashion to help the beginner learn the basics and build from there. The invaluable material contained in these sections is presented in a clear and meticulous way that can easily be integrated into real business hiring decisions.

Not impressed
The information on this book is very basic. It may be useful to a college grad looking to get a start in recruiting or to entry level employees. Some of the information in this book is common sense. If you have been recruiting for a few years, this not the book for you.
