FANTASTIC! IM A RN RECENTLY SENT TO TRAIN AS AN OPERATING THEATRE NURSE. FREQUENTLY USED INSTRUMENTS CAN BE LEARNT WHILE SCRUBBING, BUT FOR THE OTHER SPECIALIZED AREAS IN THE THEATRE THIS BOOK'S PHOTOGRAPHY HAS HELPED ME TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH OTHER INSTRUMENTS AND THEIR TIPS. THERE ARE ALSO SURGICAL PROCEDURES AND A LIST OF POSSIBLE EQUIPMENTS AND INSTRUMENTS NEEDED FOR THE CASE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOr NEW THEATRE STAFF LIKE MYSELF.
Helpful I got this book to help transition as a new RN to the OR. I found it helpful while learning to scrub, even though it doesn't contain pictures of every instrument for each specialty. I especially like how it breaks down the basic steps for some surgeries. One thing I didn't like was that some of the pictures just show all the instruments on the stringer so you only get to see how the tips differ. I'd say it's a worthwhile expense for a new nurse or scrub tech, especially if you plan to work multiple areas.

To the point of it being included as a core text in our Introductory Perioperative Program. I use the images to show the fine details of the instrument tips & specific differences. The quiz was randomly used by the students & new staff when in the Central SAterilising placement & the operating theatre placements. This interactive learning is essential to the 'digital natives'
