Keeping It Real In Learning, Not Just Another Textbook, All Parents Need This Book This book is what learning and real education is all about. Too bad the public fool system is not run by the author or folks like her that know and care about real quality learning. What passes for learning in schools is learning how to play the phony educational system in order to get a phony job working for a phony company doing phony work for phony money. Fortunately the whole phony system is collapsing because its phony. This book is well worth the money if you are serious about the truth in education and learning and want out of phony learning. The authors use of personal examples enhances the readability of the text. She offers plenty of scientific evidence to support her work along with her anecdotal evidence. If you are a parent with a child in the public fool system you need the knowledge in this book to defend and protect your child from the educational phonies. Learn what real learning is and when your child has trouble in school, you'll know that it's probably the teacher and schools fault for not using the correct type of learning techniques on your child. You'll be able to challenge the teacher and the system to get the type of real education for your child the he/she deserves or at least get them to back-off and give your child a passing grade to get rid of you. Don't let those teachers and principles intimidate you. After reading this book you'll probably know more about learning than they do and be able to intimidate them.
International version is identical and 1/4 the price I am just beginning this book as a part of my MA course. I have found that this book can be purchased here in Korea, or in many other countries, for 1/4 the price in paperback. Of course they have warnings all over the back of the book about it being "illegal" to use in the USA, but the same international book can be purchased on E-bay for a good price compared to the horribly expensive USA hardback. It's identical, except for the cover. You can also purchase an online version, but they just rob you blind expecting $75 for it, and only allowing you 180 days of access, and the ability to print out a maximum of 10 pages per day. If I can purchase a full, printed book overseas for half of what the online version costs (paperless), then that's just wrong. An online version should reflect far more savings for the consumer than that!
Good book Really enjoyable read for a textbook! Learned a ton! Used for an online class, and I felt as though the author of the text was my instructor! :) Recommend!
Not recommended for graduate level As a doctoral student in special education, I enrolled in a human learning theory class with other masters and doctoral students. This book was assigned and after a semester with it, I can say I "survived" this horrible text. It reads like the author's personal life story. There is little professionalism in the text, but I did learn plenty about the author's family, children, collegiate life, etc. This book is more than sufficient for undergraduate learning, but in an advance course, this book falls flat on its face and leaves the reader wishing for a more mature presentation.
Human Learning, Fourth Edition by Jeanne Ellis Ormrod This is a extrmely good book for student to understand the theories and principles of human learning. Especially, the author explain well various theories by the memories which she have had. In case of difficult theories, the samples is very useful.
