Product Description Clear. Accurate. Current. The new twelfth edition of Financial and Managerial Accounting: A Basis for Business Decisions unites this text¿s long-running standard of excellence with a thorough revision reflecting contemporary concepts and issues in accounting. The managerial accounting section has been expanded making this book appropriate for the ¿50/50 split¿ accounting principles courses that employ a corporate approach. The hallmarks of this text continue to be exceptional balance between the preparer and user points of view, excellent real-world examples that do not distract students from the text narrative, and clear writing style. This is a reflection of the authors and their well-known dedication to accounting education.

Below average text Poor coverage of concepts and poor exposition of examples.
B-O-R-I-N-G ELEMENTARY. BORING. NOT CHALLENGING. MISSES SEVERAL IMPORTANT ISSUES. The authors could do with some refresher courses -- they seem really over the hill!
Not engaging Introductory Accounting texts are not rocket science. This text covers similar gound as others, probably in a below-average fashion as it is extremely boring and fails to elicit student interest. There is no new ground or any theoretical breakthroughs. It would have been nice if the text had addressed some issues of current concern to managers and accountants -- such as issues of fraudulent ethics and international accounting. Jan Williams et al. seem to be unaware of current issues bothering accountants, but it is probably too much to expect anything cutting-edge from a book of this type or by these authors.
Nothing new A run-of-the-mill introductory textbook. No new theoretical or practical approaches. I was forced to use this textbook as Jan Williams is currently Dean of the Business School at UTK. Talk about ethical accounting!
